Buenos Aires, November 27 (NA) – The death of Mercedes “Meche” Portillo caused a great stir in the entertainment world. The renowned producer of the show 'Intrusos' (America) passed away after remaining in the intensive care unit due to bilateral pneumonia that aggravated her delicate health condition. According to the Argentine News Agency, her condition had been mentioned on the air by Adrián Pallares and Rodrigo Lussich, who on November 25th asked for chains of prayer to accompany her during that critical moment. Portillo held a central place in the program, as Lussich had defined her as 'the head' behind the content they have been developing for six years, and her most outstanding contribution was the creation of the 'Los escandalones' segment, one of the most identifiable moments of the show. Her work was not limited to television; she was also part of the production of the theatrical play 'Socios al desnudo', led by the hosts themselves, and for that reason she accompanied them on tours throughout the country. Likewise, the relationship between Portillo and the hosts went beyond the professional. Lussich recounted that they had known each other for almost 30 years and that he considered her a 'companion, friend, and sister.' In the posts they shared on their social media asking for her recovery, they showed images of recent trips and shared moments. In one of those messages, Lussich remembered a trip to New York where she told him that there she felt 'more free' and 'less watched.' The host described how they had walked through the city together calmly, without paying attention to the gaze of others, and mentioned that those experiences were part of a common story that included 'stages and screens.' On the day they made the seriousness of her condition public, Lussich detailed that the producer had fainted after returning from a work trip to Jujuy. He also said that she was in the ICU, intubated, connected to a ventilator, and fighting for her life. Finally, in that same message, he asked to join a chain of prayer, describing it as the most difficult moment of his life.
